Pakistan coronavirus death tally rises to 15

LAHORE: The number of total coronavirus death toll surges to 15 after Sindh reported two new deaths from the virus on Sunday.

Sindh Health and Population Minister Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho confirmed that two more citizens have died from the novel coronavirus in Karachi.

“One of the patients was 83-years-old while the other was 70-years-old,” she said, adding that both patients had pneumonia and COVID-19.

It is pertinent to remember that Pakistan’s count of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases soared to 1526 on Sunday, according to the latest statistics released by the National Command and Control Center.

According to National Command and Control Authority, five patients are in critical condition, while 28 patients have recuperated from the infection.

Sindh

The total number of coronavirus cases in Sindh has rised to 481.

A complete lockdown has been imposed across the Sindh to limit the spread of the disease. Police have arrested over 70 people for violating the rules during the curfew.

The provincial government has also imposed ban on all congregational prayers, including Friday prayers.

Punjab

The coronavirus cases are increasing sharply in the province where in 85 new cases surfaced, taking the tally to 558.

Markets, shopping malls, and other places are closed as the provincial government has imposed partial lockdown in the province.

The government has barred elder people and children from offering Friday prayers at mosques and issued guidelines for making lines with a specific distance.

Balochistan

There are 138 coronavirus cases in Balochistan with 5 new cases. A lockdown has also been imposed in the province till April 7, taking precautionary measures.

According to a notification issued by the Home and Tribal Affairs Department, Section 144 of the Pakistan Penal Code has been imposed.

KP

With several new cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the number has surged to 188 in the province. A partial lockdown has been imposed to restrict the movement of public.

Islamabad

The capital territory has confirmed 34 coronavirus (COVID-19)cases. The city administration has locked Islamabad down partially for two weeks, suspending inter-city transport and shutting all kinds of shopping malls, restaurants except shops for edible items.

Barakahu and Shehzad Town have been sealed as most of the cases were reported from these areas. Pakistan Army has established checkposts in the areas to control public movement.

There are 116 cases in Gilgit-Baltistan and two cases were confirmed in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
