Pakistan defeat Japan to qualify for semifinal in Jr Hockey World Cup

MUSCAT: Pakistan’s junior hockey team on Monday moved to secure a semifinal spot in the upcoming Junior Hockey World Cup after defeating Japan by three to two goals in the ongoing Asia Cup in Oman.

Pakistan needed to avoid defeat in their final pool match against Japan in order to qualify for the World Cup. However, it thrashed Japan by 3 to 2 goals and succeeded not only in making it to the semi-finals from Group A but also qualified for the World Cup.

 The FIH Junior Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023 will be played in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from December 5-16 2023.
