Pakistan launches land based anti ship missile

KARACHI: Pakistan Navy test fired land based anti-ship missile as part of a training exercise from the coastal region. The missile successfully followed its preplanned trajectory till accurate target engagement at sea.

Vice Chief of the Naval Staff Vice Admiral Kaleem Shaukat and senior officers of Pakistan Navy were present on the occasion. While addressing the audience, the chief guest highlighted the changing security environment in the India Ocean region and corresponding challenges for Pakistan Navy.

The Vice Chief conveyed confidence of Chief of the Naval Staff on the relentless efforts being put in by the officers and men of Pakistan Navy to defend sea frontiers of our homeland. Pakistan Navy will continue to support regional peace and security initiatives to meet entire spectrum of challenges in the maritime domain.

Vice Chief of the Naval Staff lauded the utmost dedication, unflinching resolve and commendable professional conduct displayed by all participants especially the crew of missile unit for making the event a complete success.

Meanwhile, Chief of Italian Navy, Admiral Valter Girardelli was on an official visit to Pakistan. During the visit, Chief of Italian Navy called on Chief of the Naval staff, Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi at Naval Headquarters Islamabad on 07 Mar 18, where discussions on professional matters and avenues of existing and future naval collaboration were focused.

In the second leg of the visit, Admiral Valter Girardelli met various Naval Field Commands at Karachi.

During the visit to Karachi, Chief of Italian Navy called on Commander Karachi, Rear Admiral Ather Mukhtar, Commander Coast, Rear Admiral Moazzam Ilyas and Commander Pakistan Fleet, Rear Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi in separate meetings.

During the meetings, besides discussions on professional matters and bilateral naval collaboration, the Chief of Italian Navy lauded Pakistan Navy’s role and commitments in maintaining peace and stability in the region through persistent participation in Coalition Maritime Campaign Plan and Counter Piracy Task Forces.

Admiral Valter Girardelli also laid floral wreath at Mazar-e-Quaid. Later, the dignitary visited various PN establishments and ships.

The visit of Chief of Italian Navy to Pakistan is expected to further strengthen the bilateral defence collaboration between Pakistan and Italian in general and the two Navies in particular.
