Pakistan Navy rescues injured Indian sailor in Arabian Sea

F.P. Report

RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Navy on Wednesday successfully carried out a humanitarian operation to evacuate an injured Indian crew member from an oil tanker in the Arabian Sea, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The maritime rescue was launched after the Joint Maritime Information and Coordination Center (JMICC) received an emergency call from a Liberian-flagged oil tanker requesting immediate medical assistance for one of its crew members, an Indian national who had sustained serious injuries onboard.

“Upon receiving the distress signal, Pakistan Navy promptly dispatched a medical team via a ship and a helicopter to render assistance,” the ISPR said, adding that the injured individual was stabilised and evacuated to a hospital in Karachi for further treatment.

The injured sailor’s condition was reported to be critical at the time of evacuation, but officials said timely response and coordinated efforts ensured his safe transfer for medical care.

“The successful rescue is a manifestation of Pakistan Navy’s ability to transcend nationalism and fulfill international maritime obligations,” it stated.

The Navy termed the mission a “practical proof of its exemplary role in protecting human lives at sea” and reaffirmed its commitment to international humanitarian norms and maritime cooperation.
