Pakistan needs someone like Dravid: Ramiz Raja

Monitoring Desk

KARACHI: Pakistan cricket former captain turn commentator, Ramiz Raja has stated that the country’s cricket board should hire a reputed cricketer like India’s Rahul Dravid for the youngsters.

“I think the PCB should also consider appointing a former Test player who is well reputed and respected with the national junior team just like India has done in the case of Rahul Dravid (India U-19 and A coach),” stated Raja, quoted NDTV.

Pakistan U-19 team, meanwhile, is preparing for the upcoming ICC U-19 World Cup, scheduled to commence in New Zealand.

The former captain was of the view, that the role of such tournaments is to identify individual talent and preparing them for the future, rather than winning the game.

“I don’t think winning is as important as recognising individuals who are talented and then educating and grooming them. India will benefit from the presence of someone like Rahul Dravid who is a role model for youngsters,” he said.

Earlier, Pakistan Under-19s beat Australia Under-19s by 49 runs in the third and final Youth One-day International (ODI), clinching the series 2-0 at Melbourne.
