Pakistan-Nigeria share many commonalities: PM

Islamabad: H.E. Maj. Gen. (R) Ashimiyu Adebayo Olaniyi, High Commissioner of Nigeria in Pakistan called on Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi at PM Office today.

The Prime Minister congratulated Ambassador Olaniyi on his appointment to Pakistan. The Prime Minister stated that Pakistan can provide cooperation in various sectors including health, infrastructure, education and human resource management. “There is a lot of trade potential between the two countries that can be utilized for the benefit of the people of Pakistan and Nigeria”, added the Prime Minister. In this context, he emphasized the need for regularly holding the Pakistan – Nigeria Joint Ministerial Commission meetings. The Prime Minister stated that Pakistan and Nigeria share many commonalities and also face similar challenges. The brotherly countries can help each other through sharing of expertise, added the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister recalled his meeting with President of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari on the sidelines of 9th D-8 Summit in October last year.

The Nigerian High Commissioner thanked the Prime Minister for the warm welcome and expressed his strong commitment to further expanding bilateral relations.

Furthermore: Ambassador of China to Pakistan H.E. Mr. Yao Jing called on Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi at Prime Minister’s Office today.

The Prime Minister congratulated Ambassador Yao on his appointment to Pakistan and reiterated strengthening the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between the two nations.

The Prime Minister stated that deepening the strong bonds of friendship and multi sector cooperation between Pakistan and China would continue with great fervor as ever before. He expressed the confidence that Ambassador Yao will actively contribute towards smooth and expeditious implementation of the CPEC projects.

The Prime Minister emphasized upon expanding people-to-people contacts and collaboration in various areas, ranging from trade & commerce to education and culture.

Ambassador Yao Jing thanked the Prime Minister and the Government for a very warm welcome to Pakistan and reiterated to play his part in realizing the vision of Chinese and Pakistani leadership for the benefit of people of the region.
