Pakistan offers solidarity after deadly Afghanistan quake

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephonic conversation with Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, expressing deep sorrow over the tragic earthquake in Afghanistan that claimed hundreds of lives.

During the call, Ishaq Dar extended heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and offered prayers for the swift recovery of the injured.

According to a spokesperson from the Foreign Office, Pakistan reaffirmed its unwavering solidarity with the Afghan people and announced all possible support for the victims of the disaster.

The devastating earthquake struck Afghanistan last night, killing over 800 people and injuring more than 2,700. The worst-hit region was Kunar province, where 800 fatalities were reported, with entire villages buried under debris. Casualties were also reported in Nangarhar and Laghman provinces.

Pakistan’s message comes as an important gesture of regional unity and humanitarian concern in the face of a large-scale natural calamity.
