Pakistan poised for $100b export target: CEO-PFC

ISLAMABAD (INP): Pakistan has the potential to significantly increase its exports, aiming for a target of $100 billion, according to furniture industry leader Mian Kashif Ashfaq.

He emphasized the crucial role of the private sector in achieving this goal and urged the government to provide a comprehensive incentive package for exporters.

Ashfaq, CEO of the Pakistan Furniture Council, met with a delegation of exporters led by Chaudhry Areeb Arain on Sunday. He stressed the importance of utilizing the full potential of the private sector, which he believes is key to driving economic and commercial development.

“To achieve this export target, it is imperative to offer a consolidated, comprehensive, and easily accessible incentive package to exporters,” Ashfaq stated.

He expressed confidence in Federal Trade Minister Gohar Ijaz’s ability to provide a clear framework for exporters to leverage and promote domestic exports.

The furniture leader highlighted Pakistan’s capacity to fulfill global requirements across various sectors, from textiles and agriculture to technology and manufacturing.

He emphasized the need for investment in infrastructure, technology, and skills development to enhance the competitiveness of Pakistani exports on the international market.

“By overcoming logistical challenges and improving the quality of products and services, Pakistan can position itself as a reliable and attractive trading partner to the world,” Ashfaq concluded.

The government’s focus on promoting an environment conducive to export trade, coupled with active private sector participation, suggests a promising outlook for Pakistan’s export ambitions.
