Pakistan records 58 more corona deaths with 1,262 new cases in 24 hours

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has recorded 58 more deaths from coronavirus and 1,262 new infections during the last 24 hours (Friday) but interestingly the rate of recoveries has continuously been going up recently, showed figures released by the National Command Operations Centre (NCOC) on Saturday morning.

As per the latest NCOC data, the country witnessed 5,536 recoveries from the Covid-19 during the past 24 hours (Friday) bringing down the number of the active cases to 25,649.

The overall death toll from coronavirus has gone up to 12,276 after the addition of 58 more fatalities.

With the inclusion of 1,262 new infections during the past 24 hours (Friday), the number of total confirmed Covid-19 cases spiked to 561,625. A total of 37,115 tests were conducted across the country during this period. The positivity rate stood at 3.4 percent.

As usual, Sindh remained the worst-hit province by the pandemic in terms of cases followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad. As many as 253,090 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 163,367 in Punjab 69,386 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 42,513 in Islamabad, 18,924 in Balochistan, 9,408 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and 4,937 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Furthermore, 5,026 individuals have lost their lives in Punjab, 4,199 in Sindh, 1,986 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 484 in Islamabad, 281 in Azad Kashmir, 197 in Balochistan and 102 in Gilgit Baltistan. Global developments Here are the latest developments in the coronavirus crisis:
