Pakistan set a target of 309 runs for Zimbabwe in first ODI
BULAWAYO: Pakistan set a target of 309 runs after opener Imam-ul-Haq scores a brilliant hundred against Zimbabwe in the first match of the ODI series on Friday in Bulawayo.
Both the openers provided a good solid start for Pakistan, scored 113 runs in the opening partnership for the team.
Both Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq batted beautifully and keep the score board moving which help the team to put a huge score without any trouble.
In-form Fakhar Zaman scored 60 off 70 balls, while Babar contributed 30 off 34 balls.
Asif Ali made his one-day international debut for Pakistan while Babar Azam returned from injury.
The debutant Asif Ali hit a blistering 46 runs innings on 25 balls.
Zimbabwe won the toss and invited the green shirts team to bat first.
Pakistan are starting the series as clear favorites, but captain Sarfraz Ahmed expects the hosts to be challenging opponents in their home conditions as their tour moves to Bulawayo for five games in the longer of cricket´s two short formats.
Zimbabwe are likely to present much less of a challenge, despite playing at home, and Pakistan´s primary target in the series opener on Friday will be to secure their first ODI win of 2018.
