Pakistan stability linked with Afghanistan: Sherpao

SWABI: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao said that Afghanistan and Pakistan stability links with each other and the best option for the leaders of the two nations was to set across the table.

He was addressing a gathering in Topi city organized in the honor of a distinguished, Fida Muhammad who quit Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) along with his supporters and joined QWP here on Wednesday.

Sherpao who remained Interior Minister during President Pervez Musharraf regime said that the increasing incident of f terrorism has put the stability of people in the region on a stake which was a cause of concern for both Pakistan and Afghanistan. “No doubt, stability and prosperity of the two counties are interlinked. Instead of criticizing each other the leaders of the two countries should hold parleys and find out a solution acceptable to them,” he said.

He said that the growing trend of extremism in the South Asian region was detrimental to the progress and stability in the region and the shrewdness demands that they extended cooperation and improve their relations which would help in eradication of menace of terrorism. The issue of terrorism could only be addressed through mutual cooperation and mutual respect and coordination to restore peace and stability, helping the two countries to achieve the dream of a true economic progress.

He rejected the PTI’s Chairman Imran Khan’s demand for early election. He said that in such scenario Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be deprived from its five increasing seats of the national assembly. “We wanted that the election should be held in time and those who just talks about change should let the Election Commission of Pakistan to do his work according to the constitution,” he said. About election 2018 he said that the people were the best judges who knew everything and well aware of the performance of the ruling parties.

“The voters had voted to power the religious parties but later rejected them in election 2008. Similarly the Awami National Party was also voted to power and rejected in election 2013. Now I think is the turn of the PTI because it failed to deliver and made only hollow pledges with the people,” he said. He questioned that what kind of Muthahida Majlis-i-Ammal (MMA) the religious parties wanted to restore because Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazal was in alliance with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz in (PML-N) Federal Government while Jamaat-i-Islam was party of PTI government in KP. He said that future belongs to QWP and its leadership had worked day and night for the people welfare. “We would work for the people either we remain in government or part of the opposition,” he said.
