Pakistan to continue its efforts for regional peace, stability: Alvi

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: President Dr. Arif Alvi said that Pakistan, being a strong proponent of peace in the region, would continue its efforts for regional peace and stability, which was necessary for socio-economic development.

Talking to a delegation from Harvard University, USA, which called on him, the President said that the present government had an ambitious people-centric agenda for the socio-economic development of Pakistan that  would drive the country’s foreign policy.  He underlined that the broad based socio-economic reforms were aimed at creating sustained growth that  would lead to greater employment opportunities for the country’s youth.

The President highlighted that the region had historically been a connector of markets, and with China  Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects, it offered unprecedented potential for regional trade that  would be a key driver for economic growth.

He underscored that the government was committed to adopting an open door policy and had recently  introduced a more liberalized visa regime to welcome visitors and businessmen to Pakistan.

The President stated that the government would continue implementing reforms to make Pakistan a  business and tourism friendly country.
