Pakistan to face England in second ODI today

SOUTHAMPTON: Pakistan will face England in the second one-day international at The Ageas Bowl in Southampton on Saturday (today).

According to details, the first game of the series was abandoned due to persistent rain, both the teams will be looking to top the other and take a lead in the five-match series.

For Pakistan, Shoaib Malik returns to the squad after being given leave to return home to Pakistan for personal reasons. Malik may be back into the middle order at the expense of Asif Ali though Pakistan may opt to give him another opportunity.

The men in green will look to make a better start after losing Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam cheaply before the rain abandoned the first ODI.

In the bowling department, Mohammad Amir will be hoping to keep his place and get on the field this time.

For England, Jofra Archer who impressed with an opening spell of 4-2-6-1 will continue his bid to earn a place in England’s World Cup squad after not being included in England’s preliminary squad for the World Cup but has a chance to force his way into their final 15.

Opener Jason Roy is set to be fit for the second ODI after missing out on Wednesday’s game because of a back spasm. While all-rounder Moeen Ali, who sat out the first match with a rib problem, is also set to return.

The match between England and Pakistan begins at 3pm Pakistan Standard Time.
