Pakistan will continue to play role for peaceful Afghanistan: Tehmina Janjua

NEW YORK: Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua has said Pakistan will continue to play a positive and facilitating role for a peaceful and stable Afghanistan as peace in the neighboring country is the priority of Pakistan.

This she said while talking to Under Secretary of State, Tom Shanon in New York on Monday. She said that bringing lasting peace in Afghanistan and in the region, the intra-Afghan dialogue is very important.

Janjua also delivered Pakistan’s views and concerns over the new strategy announced by the US President Donald Trump for Afghanistan and South Asia.

She added that Pakistan always gives importance to the relations with the US as both the countries sharing same point of view on several international issues.

She also informed the US under Secretary of State that US statements regarding Pakistan had started strong public reaction in the Pakistan adding that both the countries can still work together for the peaceful Afghanistan and defeating Daesh in the region.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US, Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry was also present on the occasion.
