ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will continue sensitizing the world community about unending Indian atrocities against innocent Kashmiri people in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) over the last seven decades. India is falsely portraying an environment of normalcy in the valley to deceive the international community about the on-ground real situation of Jammu and Kashmir. It was observed by the Spokesperson Pakistan Foreign Office, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmed while answering another question during his weekly news briefing in Islamabad on Friday.
Ambassador Asim urged the global community including the United States and P5 nations to take note of the grave situation of human and religious rights in Indian occupied territory and play a constructive role in the resolution of the Kashmir dispute in line with the resolutions of the UN Security Council (UNSC) and also persuade the Indian government to refrain from its hostile and aggressive doctrine against the people of Kashmir.
While responding to a media query regarding Pakistan’s continued calls for normalization of relations with India, the spokesperson was of the view that Pakistan always remains committed to peaceful and cooperative relations with all its neighbours including India, however, India does not reciprocate in the same manner.
According to him, the relations between the two nations are not good because of Indian illegal unilateral actions in the IIOJK of August 5, 2019, and thereafter which deprived the people of the valley of their basic rights, so it is the responsibility of the BJP led Indian regime to take steps for creation of a constructive and conducive environment for initiation of bilateral dialogue with Pakistan.
While responding to a question about Pakistan’s role in the mitigation of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in neighboring Afghanistan, Amb. Asim Iftikhar Ahmed said that Pakistan took timely initiative along with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and convened the extraordinary session of the Foreign Ministers of the OIC and paved the way for global support for the people of Afghanistan, which was followed by the call from the United Nations for eliminating UN sanctions from humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.
According to him, Pakistan has pledged Rs. 5 billion in humanitarian assistance for Afghanistan comprising of 50 thousand tons of wheat, shelters, and medical assistance for the people of Afghanistan.
While commenting on Pakistan’s role in the provision of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, Amb. Asim said that Pakistan has allowed transportation of humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan through land route from India on humanitarian grounds on an exceptional basis, however, Pakistan had conveyed to the Indian side, the details of arrangement put in place by Pakistan in this regard and still awaiting a response from the Indian side.
While responding to the forthcoming religious visit to India by the members of the Pakistani Hindu Community, Ambassador Asim was of the view that it was an initiative of the Pakistan Hindu Council, and the government of Pakistan supports such initiative which aims at promoting people to people contacts between the two nations.
The spokesperson dismissed the notions of a slowdown in the projects under CPEC and mentioned that CPEC’s projects are an important part of China’s Road and Belt Initiative (BRI), while Pakistan also gives huge importance to the ongoing development and energy projects under CPEC in the country. According to him, the development work on various projects is continuing with the same zeal and zest. He confirmed that Prime Minister Imran Khan will likely discuss CPEC projects along with other subjects during his upcoming visit to China.
