PESHAWAR: Pakistan athletes showed excellent performance in the 7th South Asian Cadet Junior Under-21 and Senior Karate Championship held in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu. Pakistani athletes won two gold, one silver and 24 bronze medals.
Liaba Zia and Arzoo won gold medals by defeating Indian and Nepalese athletes. President of Pakistan Karate Federation Muhammad Jahangir was the chief guest on this occasion. Laiba Zia of Pakistan karate team won gold in 50 kg, bronze in under-21, under-21 kata, Arzoo won gold in 66 kg junior, bronze in team kata senior and junior, Farishta won Bronze in Individual Kata, Team Kata, 55kg Senior and Team Fight, Magul won bronzes in team Kata, 61kg Senior and Bronze in team fight, Fatima won bronzes in team Kata Senior, and Junior, Anahita Fatima won bronzes in individual Kata Cadet and team kata junior, Aira won bronzes in team kata junior while Nazia Ali of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa won bronze medals in team kata senior, 68 kg senior and team fight.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shah Faisal performed as manager, Muhammad Anwar and Qaratul Ain as referee, while Naseem Qureshi and Imtiazi Ali as performed.
