Pakistani boxer Waseem wins title at 1st International Boxing Championship

Pakistani boxer Muhammad Waseem has claimed victory at the first International Boxing Championship held in Quetta, adding another prestigious title to his career achievements.

The World Boxing Association (WBA) sanctioned event, hosted at Quetta’s Polo Club, marked the first International Boxing Championship of its kind in South Asia. The tournament featured globally renowned boxers competing in various categories, with four title fights among a total of eight matches.

In the headline bout, Muhammad Waseem defeated Venezuela’s Veseton Orono with a knockout in the ninth round to secure the WBA World Gold Bantamweight Title, thrilling the home crowd with his dominating performance.

Other international competitors who emerged victorious in their respective fights included the UK’s Jamie Gelly, Sohail Iqbal, and Alegz Delmaghani, alongside Morocco’s Tariq Zaina and Mexico’s Jesus Seracho.

The championship also showcased women’s boxing talent, with Pakistani female boxers Fatima Hazara and Malaika defeating their fellow countrywomen in competitive matches.

The successful organization of this high-profile international boxing event in Quetta represents a significant milestone for the sport in Pakistan and South Asia as a whole.
