Pakistani consulate official shot dead in Nangarhar

JALALABAD: (AIP): An official of the Pakistani consulate was shot dead in Nangarhar province on Monday (November 06).

Unidentified armed motorcyclists gunned down an official of the Pakistani consulate in Golai Araban area in Jalalabad city, an eyewitness Noorul Haq told Afghan Islamic Press (AIP).

The deceased used to buy various necessary items from the local shops at times, he said, adding he spoke in Punjabi language. Some sources confirmed the incident and told Afghan Islamic Press (AIP) that the official was known as Iqbal.

Officials in Nangarhar have not said anything in this regard so far. No one has claimed responsibility for the incident till the filling of this report.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has strongly condemned the killing of its diplomatic staff in Jalalabad, Afghanistan.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Spokesman of Foreign Office Dr Faisal has demanded increased security to the diplomatic staff of Pakistan in Afghanistan.

Afghan Charge d’affaires was also summoned by the foreign secretary to lodge protest against the gruesome murder of Pakistan diplomatic official.
