Pakistani tourists arrive in Kabul with message of peace

KABUL (Pajhwok): A group of Pakistani tourists, who arrived in Kabul on motorcycles plan to continue their journey to Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, say their aim is to spread a message of peace and brotherhood to neighbouring Islamic countries.

Abobakar, one of the travellers, told Pajhwok Afghan News they started their journey from Lahore city of Pakistan and entered Afghanistan through Torkham crossing. From here, they intend to go to Uzbekistan and Tajikistan as well.

He said the purpose of their journey was to convey a message of peace to neighbouring Islamic nations.

Another traveller, Walid Ahmad Khan, said they kicked off their journey three days ago from Lahore city of Pakistan. Upon entering Afghanistan via Torkham crossing, they were warmly welcomed by local Afghan people and officials.

He said that tomorrow they would set off from Kabul towards Kunduz province, from where they would cross into Tajikistan.

He said their journey would last 25 days in total and cover a distance of approximately 5,000 kilometres.

Addressing a welcoming ceremony, Director of Sports and Physical Training Maulvi Ahmadullah Wasiq, said a group of 16 Pakistani tourists had arrived in Kabul on motorcycles.

He added Afghanistan is now safer than ever and has beautiful landscapes and attracts many tourists from neighbouring and other countries.

He assured the visiting tourists that all facilities would be provided to them during their stay in Afghanistan.

He also urged athletes and tourists from other countries to visit Afghanistan, enjoy its natural beauty and enjoy the hospitality of its people.
