Palestine issue and chilean legacy

Recently, the Chilean Foreign Ministry has announced a plan to open an embassy in the occupied territories, a move that the Chilean leftist President said will signal a demand that international law must be respected. The Palestinian foreign ministry and Palestinian expatriates strongly welcomed and hailed the announcement of the Chilean government. According to the Chilean Foreign Minister, the decision affirms the principled position of Chile and its president in support of international law and the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on their land.

The Republic of Chile, a tiny South American nation has demonstrated the utmost courage and commitment to the principles of justice and international law that it ignored the political pressure and economic and monetary strings attached to such a principled position that is likely to irk a hostility from Israel, influential global Jewish Community and their backers across the world. Earlier, Chile opened a representative office to the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank city of Ramallah in 1998 and also recognized Palestine as a state and supported its entrance into UNESCO in 2011. Chile is home to over 300,000 Palestinians, who play an important role in the Chilean economy and politics in the country. Presently, Chile is vigorously backing UN efforts and is a strong supporter of the two states’ solution to the Palestine dispute. Chile continues to recognize both Palestine and Israel as legitimate states but did not commit any timeline and location for the establishment of its embassies in opposing nations.

The rare nations in the world have been left with such courage to adopt a principled position in line with the global law or UN resolutions on contentious issues including Palestine, Kashmir, human rights, white supremism, terrorism, and its states’ patronage in the contemporary world. A few nations and leaders challenge the fake standards of global influentials and expose theirs dubiousity through the support of weak and vulnerable communities in the world.

In fact, World peace can’t be maintained until the world nations uphold unbiased and rule-based policies regarding the global disputes so no indigenous group or unrepresented nation could be an easy prey for powerful belligerents in the future.
