MUMBAI: The Girl on the Train is a crime thriller writer by Paula Hawkins and later adapted into a film in 2016 by Tate Taylor.

The film stars Emily Blunt as an alcoholic who gets caught up in a murder mystery. Parineeti Chopra is all set to take on that role in the Hindi remake of the film.

Directed by Ribhu Dasgupta, Parineeti will be seen as the lead who is a divorced alcoholic, struggling to cope up with infertility and a broken marriage. In the course of one of her journeys, she gets caught up in the murder of her former neighbour and becomes the prime suspect initially. She then goes on to unravel the real incident and find out who really killed the women.

A crime thriller, this will be the first time Parineeti will be seen in a film of this genre. The film will be produced by Reliance Entertainment and Amblin Entertainment. It will go on floors after Parineeti finishes her current project, the Saina Nehwal biopic for which she is training right now.
