Pashto Day commemorated at ICU

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Literary and Debating Society of the Islamia College University commemorated the annual Pashto Day at the Khyber Union Hall on Wednesday.

Ibrahim Khan Shubnam presided over the literary session while Muhammad Hanif Qais was chief guest on the occasion.

Haji Muhammad Amin Durshakhela, Haji Muhammad Amin Ashari, Sadiq Zaman Sadiq and a large number of students were present on the occasion.

Prof. Dr. Noorul Amin Yousafzai delivered the inaugural speech and prayed for the higher grades of renowned Pashto poet Ghazi Sial Baba.

Dr. Abbasin Yousafzai welcomed the guests and told about the rules and regulations of the quiz and speech competitions.

At the quiz competition, questions relating to the history and literature were asked from the participants.

A total of 20 students participated in the speech competition wherein a student Azmatullah Orakzai bagged first position, followed by Jabbir Khan and Anwarzeb Mukhlis, who managed to secure second and third positions respectively.

Similarly, 47 students took part in the poetry competition session.

According to the final results, Faryad Malagoray got first position while Atta Urrehman Attir and Haseena Kanwal laid their hands on second and third positions respectively.

Prof. Dr. Tariq Mehmood Danish, Muhammad Yousaf Hairan, Fitrat Buneri, Noreen Aman Shama,, Nazia Khan Durrani and Kulsom Zeb performed the duties of judges.
