LAHORE: The chairman P-akistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Tahirul Qadri has demanded the formation of Joint Investigation Team (JIT) like Panama leaks to investigate the carnage of innocents in Model Town after the justice Baqir Najfi judicial report that pointed figure on Chief Minister Punjab, law minister and police.
“Chief Minister Punjab, law minister Rana Sanaullah and indulged 125 police officials should immediately removed from their posts,” Tahirul Qadri said while addressing a joint press conference after meeting with Pakistan Sirzameen Party (PSP) head Mustafa Kamal in Lahore.
He mentioned that he did not believe in minus-one formula as he believed in minus all.
“Humiliation was done by slaughtering innocent people in Model Town while for the purpose the IG police Balochistan was transferred from Balochistan to Lahore,” he alleged adding that the judicial reports has fully exposed the evil face of the rulers.
He went on saying that Najfi report has held Shahbaz Sharif, Rana Sanaullah and bureaucracy responsible for the carnage in Model Town. He warned that PAT will fight with law and will get justice, he also directed the workers to flex their muscles for peaceful protest. Speaking on the occasion, Kamal said those named in the judicial report should be handed over to the court of law.
He announced full support to PAT demand of Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Law Minister Rana Sanaullah’s resignation in the wake of the Model Town judicial report. He said: “If injustices like the Model Town incident are not stopped then one should be certain that no one is safe in Pakistan,” he said. “We have to take the Model town incident to its logical end.”
The Punjab government, at the behest of the Lahore High Court, made the report for the Model Town incident public on December 5. The report was drafted by Justice Baqir Najfi and termed the 2014 tragedy in Lahore’s Model Town as the “most unfortunate incident” in the country’s history.
The PSP leader appreciated Dr. Qadri and his party for firmly standing for the issue and paid tribute to their struggle.
