PCB decides to consult recently retired cricketers

LAHORE (Monitoring Desk): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to consult recently retired cricketers, with regards to the coaching of young cricketers.

The PCB chairman Ehsan Mani and Managing Director (MD) Wasim Khan wants to use the services of cricketers that have played modern-day cricket, to groom the upcoming talent. According to sources, former captain and member of cricket committee Misbahul Haq is likely to be entrusted with more responsibility after the ongoing 2019 International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup.

PCB had earlier offered Mohammad Yousuf, Younis Khan and Misbah to work with the Under-19 team, however the board failed to reach an agreement with the former cricketers.

Once entrusted with the authority to appoint coaches, Wasim is likely to work towards convincing former cricketers to work at the National cricket academy (NCA) in Lahore and with the youth cricket teams.

Board officials want to improve cricket at the grassroot level and believe involving recently retired cricketers will go a long way in helping achieve this goal.
