Pemra bans live coverage of rallies, processions in Islamabad

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: As former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan is appearing before the Islamabad High Court today, the Pemra has banned the live coverage of processions and rallies in the limits of federal capital territory.

The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority on Monday put a ban on the live broadcast of rallies, processions and public gatherings in the vicinity of Islamabad.

According to the Pemra order, the ban on coverage is effective only for today.

In its statement, the media regulatory authority said that the ban has been imposed while keeping in view the details divulged in a letter written by the law enforcement institutions. Previously, the TV channels aired the footages of attack on the law personnel by the violent mob which created chaos and fear in the society.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan is arriving at Islamabad High Court today from Lahore to file petitions seeking protective bail in five cases registered against him in different police stations in the federal capital.
