KABUL: The Department of Defense, Pentagon, has awarded a new contract to provide logistics support to Afghan Air Force (AAF)’s fleet of MD-530F Cayuse Warrior helicopters.
According to a statement released by Department of Defense, the Arizona-based MD Helicopters has received the new contract to provide logistics support to AAF.
“MD Helicopters Inc., Mesa, Arizona, was awarded a $15,964,035 modification (P00021) to contract W58RGZ-17-C-0038 for logistics support. Work will be performed in Kabul, Afghanistan; and Mesa, Arizona, with an estimated completion date of Aug. 31, 2019,” the statement said.
This comes as Efforts are underway to bolster the capabilities of the Afghan Air Force. As a result, the Indian Ambassador to Kabul Vinay Kumar on Thursday handed over two Mi-24 gunship helicopters to the Afghan Air Force as part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen the Afghan Air Force.
The coalition forces officials in Afghanistan had earlier said that the size of the Afghan Air Force will be tripled by 2023 with the addition of new equipment and aircraft. (Khaama Press)
