People complain of non-provision of assistance

KUNDUZ: The people displaced by recent fighting in Kunduz province complained that most of the relief and aid agencies have failed to provide them assistance.

Most of the displace families are living in Kunduz city and its surrounding areas and in dire need of humanitarian assistance.

A commission conducted survey of the hundreds of displaced families but the non-governmental relief organizations who had promised to provide them assistance not only failed to extend them aid also disrespected them, said Abdul Muhammad and Hajid M. Din told AIP on behalf of the displaced families.

They said people return empty-handed after wait for hours outside the offices of the aid organization. Safiullah, deputy chairman of Kunduz provincial council, verified the claim of displaced people, saying most of the aid goods are embezzled by officials of the NGOs and distribute the goods among their own relative instead of displaced families.

Director refugees in Kunduz, meanwhile, some aid assistance was provided to the people displace by recent clashes in Chahardara district. He said distribution of aid goods continued among nearly 2000 families. Thousands of people were displaced by clashes in different areas of Kunduz provinces over the past two years. Some of them returned to their respective areas on improvement in security while a large number are still living in different areas and facing huge problems.
