KABUL: Some Kabul residents commented on the restrictions imposed on the city and stated that people are not following the government orders, nor adhering to necessary health recommendations in certain areas of the city.
Despite the government’s spending on public awareness campaigns, residents say that movement in PD8 has not decreased.
“A lot of money is spent on public awareness. Unfortunately, people from PD8 in Kart-e-Naw do not care about these recommended measures. They are not familiar with masks and gloves,” says Ahsanullah Farzan Hussain Khel, a resident of Kart-e-Naw.
Other residents say they must go outside and move within the city to get food.
“The government should help people. They should help every street vendor and then lockdown the city and arrest the perpetrators,” says Raza Khan, a resident of Kabul city.
“All the people going outside are not implementing quarantine measures. They should think about themselves,” stated Baryali, another resident of Kabul city.
Some citizens have urged people, especially in Kabul, to successfully carry out the restrictions and stay home in order to slow the spread of the disease.
“Police come here and ask the shopkeepers to lock their shops. When they (police) leave, the shopkeepers reopen their shops again,” said Arash Haidari, a resident of Kabul city.
This comes at least four weeks after the Afghan government issued the mandatory restrictions on movement in Kabul city, but the residents are not implementing them with care.
Officials have warned residents that they will enforce stricter measures if people do not comply with the orders to halt unnecessary movement. (TOLOnews)
