People suffering due to lack of health facilities

F.P. Report

SWABI: “I still remember the day when I received a call on 08 January 2019 with gloomy news that my wife, whom I had left in sound condition while leaving for duty the same day, is in upset condition of health on account of her pregnancy rupture”.

This was said by a police constable Numan Bacha while sharing his grief with the aim to break the ice with the stakeholders and the concerned authorities. While reminding the sad day, he said ‘I used to hear the word “refer to” but today I listened it practically and in person. It was a very hard hour when I received call about my wife health condition. She was pregnant for 30 days. I mean, it was just a beginning, he added.

He further said that after the call I returned home and along with family took my wife to a private hospital near to our home. There, she was treated for few moments but owing to her deteriorating condition, we were advised to shift her to Mardan Medical Complex (MMC). From the said hospital on about 2 KMs there is a state-run hospital known as Category “D” Hospital Kalu Khan. We also moved there in seek of emergency treatment to our patient. This was a place from where the earliest treatment was anticipated to be given to her as MMC Mardan is on the distance of around 40 KMs from our village Mansabdar. Khan claimed that the doctor, who was present on the spot hardly took 5 minutes to examine our patient and the word “refer”, that I had just listened, met us there that day. In this state-run hospital we were told the same, to shift our patient to MMC.

Taking a deep and sorrowful sigh, we headed towards Mardan and being on the way my wife, who had spent three years with me and stood by me through all thick and thins, breathed her last. Her death not only sent shocking waves to my family but also caused hatred among us towards the stakeholders and the bleak system of this country.

How many will be referring? And how many will be losing their lives? How many will fall prey to this “refer to” culture? Better to close these hospitals as they are of no use.

Swabi being the hub of top political leaders is deprived of good health facilities. To put a lid to this “refer to, culture”, the previously served health minister who again has been appointed as the same, should at least pay heed to this catastrophe of his native area. If these hospitals are of no use, then why are the public being made fool? Better to lock them or bless it with all the facilities so that nobody else could meet such incident to what I and my family met with.
