Pesco issues advisory guidelines for consumers, staff

PESHAWAR: Pesco has requested its customers to adopt all precautionary measures during rainy weather to avoid electrocution and electric shocks so that precious human lives and property could be secured.

A Pesco statement said on Thursday here these safety measures included to properly earthen your electrical appliances and replace worn out wires and not to touch electrical appliances / cables with wet hands. The consumers were also requested to be careful and attentive while using electric water pumps and other electrical appliances.

The females were also requested to avoid usage of metal wires for drying clothes and not to touch the washing machine with wet hands without switching it off. Please keep a mate under your foot while pressing the clothes, it said. The Pesco technical staff was also directed to ensure safety measures in letter & sprit and do not start work without PTW (Permit to work).

Before starting work, be sure that power supply is disconnected. Poles on both sides must be properly earthen for the safety of technical staff and not to stand on transformer or any other electrical instrument while working. Pesco further advised its technical staff to fasten safety belt while working on line and always put on helmet and rubber gloves while working.

Thread stitched shoes must be used by the linemen and avoid nail fixed shoes while working on line. Fix ladder tightly with the pole and work with instruments in proper condition. It further advised that not to use loose and silky clothes while working on line.
