directs to submit IKD performance report

PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court (PHC) has directed Additional Advocate General KP to submit performance report of Institute of Kidney Diseases (IKD) Hayatabad and adjourned hearing till 13 September, on Thursday.

A divisional bench comprising of Chief Justice PHC Justice Qaiser and Justice SM Attique Shah directed provincial government to submit performance report during hearing of illegal transplantation and prices of medicines petitions before court.

Additional Attorney General Emir Javeed and Assistant Advocate General Saqib Raza along with other representatives of concerned departments were present before court.

During hearing Malik Muhammad Ajmal Advocate informed PHC that facility of transplantation does not provided in IKD while patients are compelled to purchase medicines from open market and added that competent authorities claiming unavailability of facilities due to lack funds with government.

The counsel further argued that Rs,122 million has been provided on orders of Peshawar High Court while Additional Attorney General informed that in Islamabad and Punjab Human Organs Transplantation Authorities are established while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa did not regulated it.

Chief Justice inquired from Assistant Advocate General regarding operations and performance of IKD while the Assistant Advocate General requested for submitting report in this regard and PHC also observed that provincial government may establish transplantation authority.
