PESHAWAR: Students of Peshawar University on Wednesday continued to protest for the second day against a hike in tuition fees.
Students had demanded on Tuesday that the varsity take back the decision to increase the fee, provide scholarships to deserving students, and provide important facilities including hostels and transport services.
After the university officials and protesting students failed to reach an agreement on the matter, the latter camped outside the administration block of the varsity on Tuesday night.
MNA Ayesha Gulalai expressed solidarity with the students.
“Demands of the students [of Peshawar University] are justified and the [provincial government] should admit that,” Gulalai said.
Lashing out on her former party, which is also the ruling party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Gulalai observed that the provincial government makes tall claims of change but not a single representative of the KP government has yet spoken to the protesting students.
“Imran Khan, Asif Ali Zardari, and Nawaz Sharif have only taught abusive language to the youth of this country,” she said, adding that the leaders of the nation want the youngsters to stay illiterate.
