F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Tuesday hearing the petitions regarding the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), has issued notices to General (retd) Pervez Musharraf, former president Asif Ali Zardari, former attorney-general Justice (retd) Malik Qayyum and the National Accountability Bureau.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar headed the three member bench. The petition was filed by Feroze Shah Gilani regarding the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO).

It is patient to be mention that the Musharaf passed the NRO in 2007, granted amnesty to politicians and other individuals by quashing various corruption and criminal cases against them.

The petitioner pleaded before the bench that the NRO caused a loss of billions of rupees and that those who made the law must return the amount incurred in losses due to it.

However, the court issued notices to the respondents seeking their replies and adjourned the hearing for a month.
