PESHAWAR: The two member bench of Peshawar High Court comprising of Justice Ijaz Anwar and Justice Arshid Ali directed Pakistan Council of Architects and Town Planners (PCATP) chairman to submit comments regarding one year internship for Architects after completion of degree, on Monday.
The counsel for petitioner Babar Khan Yousafzai and Syed Mudassir Shah Advocate informed PHC that PCATP had also made discrimination between town planners and architects by introducing Architect’s Competency Exam (ACE).
The counsel informed that there are 136 firms which are registered with competent authorities whereas there are 26 institutions across Pakistan which granting degree in Architecture and firms cannot meet the potential of graduated architects.
The counsel informed that amendments had been made in PCATP rules in 2018 and the petitioners were enrolled in 2014 and added that ACE exam is introduced only architects while town planers are exempted from the examination which is also discrimination.
The two member bench of PHC comprising Justice Ijaz Anwar and Justice Syed Arshad Ali directed PCATP chairman to submit comments in interim relief because Architect’s Competency Exam (ACE) exam is not scheduled yet.
