PHC directs secretary LG, DC Mardan to hand over Mayor’s office

PESHAWAR: A divisional bench of Peshawar High Court comprising of Justice Lal Jan Khattak and Justice Muhammad Ibrahim Khan directed Secretary Local Government and Deputy Commissioner Mardan to hand over office and vehicle within two days to Mayor Himayatullah Mayar and directed to submit report in this regard, on Thursday.

The counsel for petitioner Babar Khan Yousafzai Advocate argued that neither offices were allocated nor powers and resources provided to Local Governments after several of elections.

The counsel added that Mayor’s office is occupied District Development Advisory Committee Chairman while other one is declared as Sub-office by Deputy Commissioner Mardan.

The counsel argued that several vehicles were apprehended by officers while neither office nor staff has been provided by to Mayor Mardan despite court’s directions.

The divisional bench directed Secretary Local Governments and Deputy Commissioner Mardan to hand over office and vehicle within two days and also directed to submit report on next hearing.
