PHC directs Secry home, tribal affairs to appear before court

PESHAWAR: The two-member bench comprising of Justice Lal Jan Khattak and Justice Musrt Hilali directed Secretary Home and Tribal Affairs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to appear before court today (on Thursday) in contempt of court case regarding issuance of Kalashnikov licenses to lawyers.
The writ was filed by Saadullah Jan Marwat along with other lawyers in which Chief Secretary and Secretary Home& Tribal Affairs were made respondents.
The two-member bench observed that why not to initiate contempt of court proceeding against respondents?
During hearing PHC was informed that in previous hearing court had directed respondents to issue licenses to lawyers otherwise face contempt of court proceedings and charges shall be framed against respondents.
The lawyers informed that former Chief Justice Mazhar Alam had accepted writ petition in this regard and directed competent authorities to issue Kalashnikov licenses to lawyers but respondents did not fulfilling court directives.
After finalization of arguments divisional bench directed secretary home and home affairs to appear before court today (on Thursday).
