PESHAWAR: The two-member bench of Peshawar High Court comprising of Justice Lal Jan Khattak and Justice Faheem Wali has directed to handover District Headquarters Hospital to private medical college for teaching purposes while directed the college to submit affidavit for releasing the institute in future on government’s demand, on Friday.
The counsel for Windsor Medical College Qazi Jawad Advocate informed that the college was registered in 2015 while a hospital is necessary for medical teaching institute according Pakistan Medical and Dental Council rules, for the purpose the college approached competent authority for providing district headquarters hospital Haripur while paper work along with Rs,3 Million fee had submitted to the competent authority.
The counsel further informed that health foundation has visited the site while declare the college fit in accordance to law and an agreement also concluded in this regard.
The counsel Qazi Jawad Advocate argued that health foundation created another issue that the hospital shall be acquired by bidding while Windsor college had provided highest rates and obtained it but now the competent officials claiming that it shall only be allocated when public sector college does not establishing in five years.
The counsel added that when government established medical college in Haripur it shall be hand over back within year in accordance with agreement.
After conclusion of arguments from both sides, the PHC has directed to handover the hospital conditional to the medical college.
