PHC extends four PTI’s activists bail pleas

PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court (PHC) has extended interim bail pleas of four Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activists including former Member National Assembly (MNA) Anwar Taj and tehsil Nazim Swabi in 9th& 10th May vandalism, on Monday.
PHC’s divisional bench comprised of Justice Ijaz Anwar and Justice Syed Arshad Ali heard writ petitions while counsel for petitioners as well as Additional Advocate General appeared on behalf of provincial government and disposed-of several petitions following submission of reports by concerned Deputy Commissioner denying issuance of arrest warrants.
The counsel argued that following arrest of PTI chairman Imran Khan on 9th May, the activists protested and vandalized public’s infrastructures while former MNA Anwar Taj along with his two colleagues were booked under Maintenance of Public Order (MPO).
The counsel added that former MNA approached PHC while the court has granted interim bail and argued that petitioner didn’t aware regarding cases registered him. He requested PHC to direct competent authorities for submission of record before court and pleaded for extension in the bail.
However, PHC has extended interim bail of former MNA Anwar Taj along with his two colleagues and directed to submit record of First Information Reports (FIRs) registered against the petitioners. The same bench has also extended bail plea of tehsil chairman Swabi while stopped his arrest till next hearing and directed to submitted record of FIRs registered against him before court.
Additional Advocate General Danyal Asad Chamkani and counsel for petitioner Shah Faisal Ottmankhel Advocate appeared before court while requested for provision of records of FIRs registered against the tehsil chairman Swabi. The counsel pleaded for extension in bail and argued that petitioner didn’t aware regarding number and nature of cases against him.
However, Additional Advocate General Danyal Asad Chamkani informed that Tehsil chairman Swabi is booked in corruption charges while didn’t appearing before Anti-Corruption. The counsel argued that petitioner didn’t know the nature of case initiated by Anti-Corruption Establishment against him. PHC’s divisional bench comprised of Justice Ijaz Anwar and Justice Syed Arshad Ali extended bail of tehsil chairman Swabi and stopped competent authorities from his arrest while ordered to submit record on next hearing before court.
