PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has granted protective bail to opposition leader at National Assembly Umar Ayub for one month while ordered him to approach relevant high courts for obtaining cases’ record, on Thursday.
A two-member bench comprising Chief Justice PHC Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim and Justice Waqar Ahmed while the lawyer Alam Khan Adenzai advocate expressed concerns about daily harassment and intimidation due to numerous daily court appearances. He expressed concerns about potential harassment when traveling to Punjab.
Meanwhile, PHC’s single bench of Justice Ijaz Anwar granted transit bail to Umar Ayub while the counsel argued that the petitioner is booked in 21 cases in different areas of the country.
The lawyer argued for provision of transit that PTI’s leader can appear before relevant courts as he fear his arrest during appearance in the court. PTI leader Umar Ayub Khan expressed concerns about Pakistan’s worsening economic crisis, inflation, and lawlessness while addressing media personnel after court’s appearance. He criticized the government’s handling of IMF loan conditions, stating they exacerbate economic hardships.
Umar Ayub emphasized PTI’s commitment to democratic protests against the government. He demanded better facilities for PTI’s founding chairman in the prison. He had sent congratulations to Donald Trump on his election victory, highlighting Pakistan’s desire for good relations with the US.
Meanwhile PHC granted protective bail to Director Anti-Corruption Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sadiq Anjum till 21st November, ordering him to appear before the relevant court. The counsel argued that the petitioner is concern about potential arrest, citing a case filed by the FIA Cyber Crime Branch in Islamabad. The petitioner’s colleague, Deputy Director Anti-Corruption, was arrested in Islamabad and is currently in custody.
PHC’s divisional bench comprising of Chief Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim and Justice Waqar Ahmad granted protective bail to Director Anti-Corruption Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sadiq Anjum till 21st November.
