PHC grants status quo against re-interviews at Chitral’s varsity

PESHAWAR: A divisional bench of Peshawar High Court (PHC) comprising of Justice Muhammad Ijaz Sabi and Justice Dr. Khursheed Iqbal granted status quo against re-interviews scheduled for today (Tuesday) on 16 posts of Lecturers as well as stopped any adverse actions against petitioners, on Monday.
The counsel Khalid Rehman Advocate argued that Mehr-un-Nisa along with other petitioners were appointed for Shaheed Benazir University, Chitral campus in 2010 after selection procedure on permanent basis.
Latterly, the campus become as University of Chitral and pleaded that the petitioners are employees of Benazir University Sheringal and have nothing to do with Chitral’s varsity, the counsel added.
The petitioners filed writ petition in favor of their benefit while High Court has ordered their appointment on permanent basis but Chitral University has challenged the judgement before Supreme Court of Pakistan while Apex court deferred the issue to Syndicate to decide who would regularize the applicants either it is Chitral’s varsity or Shaheed Benazir University Sheringal Upper Dir, the counsel informed.
The counsel Khalid Rehman advocate added that Shaheed Benazir University syndicate had regularized the petitioners while Chitral’s varsity didn’t accepting them as regular employees with the plea that all candidates should be re-interviewed in this regard.
The counsel further argued that Chitral University has requested for two months before Dar-ul-Qaza (PHC Mingora bench) while now harassing the applicants with different tactics and added that the varsity plea for making as party in identical case has already turndown by competent court.
