PHC orders Agri varsity to grant classes to female lecturer

PESHAWAR: A divisional bench of Peshawar High Court (PHC) comprising of Justice Ijaz Anwar and Justice Shakeel Ahmad ordered Agriculture University Peshawar to grant classes to female visiting lecturer, on Thursday.

The counsel Changeez Khan Yousafzai advocate appeared before court while Agriculture University’s lawyer argued that the petitioner is defaulter of hostel fees.

However, Changez Khan advocate argued that the petitioner had submitted dues and record is available but varsity’s administration didn’t granting visiting classes. Justice Shakeel Ahmad observed that the current status of universities caused by nepotism and favoritism in the institution while remarked that discrimination can’t be tolerated.

He further ordered if classes are granted to other visiting faculty then also provide to the petitioner. PHC ordered Agriculture University to grant classes to female visiting lecturer and settle the issue with mutual consultation.
