PHC orders CS, IGP, DC to submit reply in CoC plea

PESHAWAR: A divisional bench of Peshawar High Court (PHC) comprising Justice Ijaz Anwar and Justice Syed Muhammad Attique Shah ordered Chief Secretary, Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa along with Deputy Commissioner Mansehra for reply in Contempt of Court (COC) plea, on Thursday.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur filed COC against Chief Secretary, Inspector General of Police and Deputy Commissioner Mansehra for didn’t allowing the party for worker’s convention despite court’s order.

The COC pleaded that High Court had allowed PTI for gatherings and rallies as per law while ordering to obtain permission from concerned Deputy Commissioner and fulfillment of the prerequisite in this regard. Deputy Commissioner Mansehra denied permission for workers convention and banned the convention without any reason which lies in the jurisdiction of contempt of court.

The counsel Ali Zaman and Shah Faisal advocates argued that caretaker government is creating hurdles in election campaign while PTI is neither banned nor a notification is issued for stopping from gatherings and rallies in this regard. Additional Advocate General Danyal Asad Chamkani appeared on behalf of provincial government, however, ordered for submission of reply while adjourned further hearing till 21st November.

Meanwhile, Judicial Magistrate Peshawar Salman Nadir sent alleged murders to jail on judicial remand after completion of physical remand who killed groom during marriage ceremony on Charsadda road.

According to prosecution, Jalal Khan had alleged shot killed Groom Adnan on Charsadda road in the premises of Faqirabad police station on bright daylight. However, police had arrested Jalal Khan along bride after registration of murder in blind case on 3rd day of the offense. During hearing alleged murder Jalal Khan confessed his crime before the court while Judicial Magistrate Peshawar sent both culprits to jail on judicial remand.
