PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court on Friday has ordered to halt the auction of Karak gas field.
A private LPG company has approached the Peshawar High Court to against gas field auction in Karak. The case was heard by Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth and Justice Ahmed Ali. Advocate Latif Afridi appeared in the court on behalf of the petitioner.
The advocate told the court that there is a gas crisis in the province, whereas the Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) alongside Gujar Khan field is auctioning Karak gas field for LPG. He said that under Articles 158 and 172 of the Constitution, province has the first right on the gas and therefore the need of the province must be met first.
The petitioner requested the court to stop the auction of the gas field being held today, the court accepted the appeal and has ordered to stop the auction.
