PHC partially accepts quash plea against 4 FIRs

PESHAWAR: A divisional bench of Peshawar High Court (PHC) comprising of Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim and Justice SM Attique Shah partially accepted quash plea of former provincial minister Kamran Bangash against four First Information Reports (FIRs) on similar grounds, on Tuesday.

PHC ordered quashing of FIRs registered at Chitral and Lower Kohistan district while sustained FIR in Tank. The counsel Ali Zaman advocate argued that the petitioner is Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist and served Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as provincial minister.

PTI’s activist Kamran Bangash booked in four FIRs registered at different police stations in similar sections of law for agitating party’s workers for vandalism on 9th May, the lawyer said. He added that Kamran Bangash is indicted in FIRs registered at Bannu, Chitral, DI Khan and Kohistan districts.

Former provincial minister has discharged from FIR registered at DI Khan, the lawyer argued. Although, Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim observed that separate FIRs can’t be registered on similar charges.

PHC’s divisional discharged Kamran Bangash from FIRs registered at Chitral and Kohistan while sustained FIR in Tank district.

Former provincial minister claimed that he had obtained relief in all cases and added that he is concluded in different cases on similar charges regarding promoting agitation against the state. He added that Returning Officer didn’t providing Form45 despite a plea for provision. It is worthy to mention that the polling agent obtains Form45 after counting of votes at particular polling station.
