PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court directed the Abdul Wali Khan University administration to submit the report of syndicate meeting which was held few weeks ago to decide the future of the employees who were appointed through allegedly fake way through advertisement No-48, sources said.
An official at the university on the condition of anonymity said that more than 260 employees were appointed on different position through advertisement No-48 published in different news papers in September 2015.
However later on several reports were carried out in the press about the alleged violation of merit in the recruitment conducted through the mentioned advertisement. Sources added that later on the University’s administration appointed a four-member inquiry committee on the directives of the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on January 3 to probe any possible wrongdoings. The sources added that among the 260 employees the four member’s inquiry committee allegedly declared majority of the appointment illegal and fake.
Sources claimed that one order of demonstrator was issued on 15 December 2016 after the passage of 16 months through the mentioned advertisement. Sources further added that another order of demonstrator was issued on 24 January 2017 after the passage of 17 months through the mentioned advertisement. Sources added that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the very beginning started investigations but the NAB also using dealing tactics in this connection.
The sources further added that however a meeting of syndicate was held on 26th February. Dr. Khurshid Khan, who few months ago was appointed as vice chancellor of the university chaired the syndicate meeting.
Sources added that the vice chancellor requested two members of the syndicate including Arsh-ur-Rehman and Shafiq-ur-Rehman before starting the meeting to allegedly not attend the meeting due to moral ground because they were remained members of the scrutiny committee who appointed the employees through advertisement No-48.
However the minutes of the meeting wasn’t disclosed so far, sources added. “It was decided in the syndicate meeting to organize a subcommittee and the committee should again investigate it and decide the fate of these employees”, sources added.
Sources added that decisions are done with the majority in the syndicate. Sources added that the administration has decided to public the minutes and will also be displayed on the university website soon.
However sources added that sister, brother and relatives of the old administration were appointed during this process. Sources claimed that some supporters of influential politicians and relatives of influential high officials of different department of the province were appointed in the university on different posts. Sources added that Vice chancellor and the new administration is under pressure and due to this reason they are also using dealing tactics to take practical step in this connection.
Sources added that due to the alleged pressure the administration hasn’t released the minutes of the mentioned syndicate meeting so far and nor take any action in this connection. Sources added that some candidates knocked at the Peshawar high court for justice and Peshawar high court on 3 April 2018 directed the university administration to produce the mentioned syndicate meeting decision and inquiry committee in the court on 22 May 2018.
The ignored candidates also demanded the chief justice of supreme court to take sumoto notice in the case because it is high profile case and also organized a joint investigation team (JIT) to investigate the appointments made through advertisement No- 48 because the university administration is under pressure in this connection.
