PHC wouldn’t allow arrest from court’s premises: Chief Justice

PESHAWAR: Chief Justice Peshawar High Court (PHC) Justice Muhammad Ibrahim Khan ordered District Police Officer (DPO) to appear before court on 31st January against arrest of Local Government Chairman Nabi Ullah from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) from the court’s premises, on Monday.

The counsel Shah Faisal Ottomankhel advocate argued that the petitioner is village council chairman Nabi Ullah was arrested by Cant Police station personnel from court’s premises despite he had obtained bails in three cases. He argued that the whereabouts of Nabi Ullah is unknown to his family after his abduction by policemen.

In the meantime, Chief Justice observed that how can police arrest a person from court’s premises? And added that PHC wouldn’t allowed it. PHC’s Chief Justice Muhammad Ibrahim Khan ordered DPO Kohat appear before court on 31st January in arrest of PTI leader from court’s premises in the premises of Kohat district.

Meanwhile, PHC’s Justice Sahibzada Asadullah extended interim bail pleas of eight PTI’s workers including Former Minister for Law Imtiaz Shahid Qureshi till 12th February. The counsel Syed Sikandar Hayat Shah advocate argued that PTI workers including Imtiaz Shahid, Aftab Alam, Daud Shah, Naseem Afridi, Eid-u-Rehman, Shafi Jan, Khurram Shahzad and Shinwari are nominated different cases and obtained Bail before Arrest from PHC.

The counsel argued that petitioners are candidates in upcoming general elections scheduled on 8th February and requested for extension in interim pleas. Moreover, PTI leader and independent candidate for Punjab Assembly PP66 Chaudary Muhammad Ali obtained transit bail till 10th February.
