PIA flights affected due to fog

KARACHI: Due to the weather conditions (dense fog and smog) prevailing in the country, some of PIA flights operating on Saturday were affected while the timing’s of some domestic flights for Sunday have been revised, few domestic flights cancelled. PIA spokesman said on Saturday. Six domestic flights were cancelled that included PK 390, PK391, PK 536 and PK 537 for sectors Karachi -Sukkur-Islamabad -Sukkur- Karachi and PK 582 and PK 583 Karachi -Rahim Yar Khan – Karachi.

The flight for the sector Lahore- Rahim Yar Khan- Abu Dhabi was rescheduled to operate directly i.e. from Lahore to Abu Dhabi. PIA flight PK 588 for the sector Karachi Bahawalpur was operated as Karachi-Islamabad. The timings of some the domestic flights operating on Sundayhave been revised due to weather conditions.

The revised expected timings are PK 302 for the sector Karachi-Lahore will operate with an expected delay of one hour, PK 341 and PK342 for the sectors Karachi-Faisalabad –Karachi will be operated as Karachi- Lahore -Karachi on the same timings, PK 536, PK 537 for the sector Karachi-Moenjodaro- Sukkur- Karachi has been cancelled.

PK 650 and PK651 for the sector Lahore-Islamabad-Lahore will now operate with a delay of two hours whereas PK 651 and 652 for the sector Lahore-Rahim Yar Khan –Lahore has been cancelled. PK 652 will operate Lahore-Islamabad as per normal timings, PK 580 and PK 581 for the sector Karachi-Multan –Karachi is expected to operate with a delay of more than four hours while PK 503 and PK 504 for the sector Karachi-Gwadar-Karachi is also expected to operate with a delay due to weather.

PIA spokesman said that the weather condition is expected to prevail for the next few days and is beyond the control of the airline. PIA has to adjust the timings of its flights due to such weather conditions, as the airline cannot operate flights with poor visibility and also keeping in view the safety requirements. This, results in either cancellation of the flights or flights operated with delays.

The passengers are being informed by PIA Call Centre. However, the passengers can also confirm the revised timings of their flights before reaching airports from PIA call centre at 111-786-786. PIA regrets the inconvenience caused its passengers. PIA spokesman concluded.
