Plunderers should face accountability, says Aslam

LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Industries and Trade Mian Aslam Iqbal said Monday that the plunderers of national wealth should face accountability process and they would have to return the looted money of the poor nation.

Talking to the media after listening to people’s complaints in an open kutchery here, he said that people were facing countless problems due to the corruption and wrong policies of the previous governments, which produced nothing but a jeopartised economy, heavy debt burden, price-hike, poverty and unemployment and bad governance.

Mian Aslam Iqbal said looters of national exchequer had not only snatched the bread and butter of the poor but also deprived them of their basic right of education, health and other basic amenities of life. Exhibitory projects of the former rulers proving white elephant for the country’s economy. The provincial minister stressed the need for reforms in government departments and institutions, if these departments worked properly, then people would be in no need to come to the assembly members and ministers for solution to their problems. The PTI government, he said, would continue the journey of serving people, and “our doors are open on masses”.

Earlier, he listened to public complaints mostly related to health, education, WASA, electricity and gas. The minister also directed the authorities concerned for early redress of people’s problems. He said that open kutchery helped solve people’s problems timely and ensure relief to them at their doorsteps, adding that this process would continue in future as well.
