PM Abbasi to address UN General Assembly on September 21

NEW YORK: The 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly was opened with the stress on bringing peace and work for the betterment of people of the world.

President of General Assembly, Miroslav Lajcak has said the UN was created for the people, who needs it and most of them are now not sitting in this hall and even they are not involved in the discussion of resolutions.

UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres in his address also emphasized the importance of focusing on people in the UN’s work.

Antonio also stresses on the empowerment of women and girls around the world and highlighted his own roadmap for achieving gender parity.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will address to the session on 21 September and Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif will likely be accompanied with PM during his first to the US.

Pakistan has strongly rejected the US President allegations and his new anti-Pakistan policy for South Asia and The foreign minister has been on a diplomatic offensive since then, with the foreign minister dashing to China, Iran and Turkey in an effort to build regional consensus.
