PM Abbasi leaves for Turkey to participate in D-8 summit

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister, Shahid Khaqan Abbassi leaves for Turkey to participate and represent Pakistan at D-8 summit which will be held in Istanbul on Friday.

This will be the ninth summit of the eight developing countries D-8 including Pakistan, Turkey, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, and Nigeria. Currently Pakistan is chairing the D-8 and it has been chairing the summit beyond the period of two years.

PM Shahib Khaqan Abbassi will hand over the chairmanship of the organization to Turkey and the coming meeting on Friday; it is likely that D-8 will adopt a declaration and plan of action after the summit.

Members of D-8 will discuss many mutual interest issued especially industry, agriculture and food security, energy, trade, transportation, and tourism.

PM Abbasi is also expected to interact with the leaders of D-8 member states on the sidelines of the summit.
